A New Year.. New Paintings 2011

These are a beginning of a new collection of paintings that i hope to enhance my ability within the creative industry further in my career. Both of these particular paintings have been painted with Acrylics, with a flat surfaced brush to increase texture and stokes mass. The painting of my self with the hands running through my hair is a specific favorite of mine due to the inspiration i have had off one particular contemptibly american artist named, Kent Williams. His work was in the Bristol art museum back in June 2010, exhibiting in a collection called 'Art From A New World'. Predominantly figuratively based this guy contains the most magnificent body of work on his home page on 'www.kentwilliams.com' and artist i defiantly recommend to anyone to look at as i believe his work is fabulous. But yes this self portrait has been inspired by him greatly.

A2 First Project Final Outcome

This is clearly the biggest scaled painting i have every produced (approximately 1.7m wide) and i hope its the first of many to come. This painting was painted with an Acrylic medium, a material that i love to use due to its faced paced ability to dry very quickly and its non tacky finish. This piece was influenced by many different artist, but was predominantly focused on the Art movement known as 'Fauvism' this movement formed in the early 1900s. So my main focus for research was an artist called Henri Matisse a french artists that approached this movement and formed some beautiful portraiture.
