Doodle-Tastic (t-shirt)

Doo-dle
1. To scribble aimlessly, especially when preoccupied.
2. To kill time.
To draw (figures) while preoccupied.
A figure, design, or scribble drawn or written absent-mindedly.
With this task i was required to find a plain t-shirt, then to draw on that aimlessly (also i had to consider what materials to use as certain ones may smudge and run on the cotton) I must also include the phrase; "hello my name is..... and i'm a .........' then you fill those gaps with your own name, and what you are an illustrator or a graphics designer. This is a great opportunity for me to express my illustrative nature within design as u love to doodle.

Third kind logo design

This particular logo is themed on a medieval/ Gothic logo this particular genre a easy way to represent a rock nature,this logo is purely designed to represent the culture. The the emotional factors that i'm trying to portray is intimidation, power and devotion.

T-shirt Designs

These designs here are sketches that are influenced by a man called Micheal Shantz formally know as the designer for 'drop dead'. His work in particular has inspired me to create t-shirt designs such as these.

Birthday Card

Now this was a birthday card desegnated to an audience that want to by a birthday card to you girlfriend, this is a jpeg file formed on Photoshop. This particular piece was designed so the imagery was the typography (I like to challenge the typical codes and conventions of a typical commercial Birthday card, in-which then i add my own twist to it). This was then later on sent of to vista print to be later professionally printed and formed into a card in-which i could give to her on the day.

Personal Statement

My current course in Art Foundation has enabled me to further explore my art practice. I have particularly enjoyed the creative freedom and risk taking that I have experience during the first term. This has enabled me to make a considered decision regarding my choices of specialism.

The idea of constructing something that is not just visually stunning and analytically thought provoking but also challenging to the audience is something that motivates me. Conveying a message and using visual stimuli to communicate for a purpose is why I am applying for a Graphics Degree. I also want to continue my third year with a BA (hons) to develop my professional skills and enable me to purse my career in Graphic Design.

I have been engaged in the area of art and design and developing my creative abilities from a young age embracing many different experiences. I feel this has continually raised my ability enhancing what I can produce as a final outcome. Last year I was able to explore the area of figurative art. I was particularly influenced by the work of the American artist Kent Williams and my study of his work truly inspired my own output. I first encountered his painting in the Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery; I love his use of tones and twisted realism.

One thing that has changed my perspective on this area was a work experience at Aardman Animations, a British Bristol based company. This showed me the many different areas of Production in their business. It was a privilege to gain such an insight into a famous and well-known animation studio. Being inspired by a creative like Nick Park is probably why I have the confidence, courage and motivation to push my ideas and to continually take steps forward, taking on valuable inputs such as criticism, inspiration and ideologies. This enables me to condense, twist and form new conventional ideas that are authentic and original.

In 2009 I was involved in the youth council and was curatorial associated with the art exhibition that was in the summer of that year. This was entirely a youth production exhibiting work that was of adolescents aged 11-17 years. The show presented a complete range of mixed media. From 10am to 6pm I was there greeting each and every visitor over that 5 day period. From the diagnostic experiences I have this year I now feel very confident in applying to study a Graphics Foundation Degree. I know that the study and environment will enable me to develop my practice fully so that I can pursue a successful career in the creative industry. I hope that my experiences and skills will enable you to shortlist me for interview.

Illustration Concepts

When I entered 'Graphics and Illustration' this year at Weston collage, I didn't know what to expect, but now I have another particular interest in the area of art and design that I really do enjoy, this may sound as I am jumping into this to quickly but I genuinely love this subject due to it commercialisation and design element.









These concept ideas were based on a graffiti artist know as 'Aryz' a graffiti artist that I approached in nelson street, Bristol. I guess you would class this presentation of work an exhibition, but he was included in this 'See No Evil' project in August this year. His Child with a wolves head inspired me to create these sketches. His work is awesome you should check it out, www.aryz.es.

Back of the book concepts

The title of this post seems so bland and straight to the point but that is exacly what these are they are just totally from imagination, they are just ideas that flow through my head then scrambled, crushed, condensed and visually presented. There is no purpose to these sketches, it more of a release and a exercise to see on what and where my though's could lead me towards, when i put my pencil to paper. I kind of surprise even my self on what i can create sometimes to be honest.

Steam Punk Bugs 2011

The ideas behind the final piece here is that the text and stylisation is related to the Victorian decade, as this poster promotes the industrial revolution and is about child labor in the 19th century. Now the relation between the graffiti an the theme becomes apparent due to the fact that graffiti i s very youth cultured. The text involved are captions that relate to the topic, grasping your attention in a classical Victorian advertising form. Following the typical codes and conventions such as house style, fonts and positioning. The reasoning of the use of the bugs is due to this ideology of bugs have this continuous power to strike fear into people within society. the types of bugs that are included to this relation of this meaning of importing. Importing from other countries to provide for the revolution.
Also the insects symbolic meaning throughout dreams, the meaning of these paticular insects is 'Frustration' The only freedom a child through slavery is through out there dreams. Link these together and this can symbolize there 'frustration' within there commanded job, there labor that they have to commit to.
The idea of com-binding the insects with the steam-punk/technology is due to our economic growth within our society on nano technology.
Some of the text is hard to read this was intentional because this is a representation of the pollution in London in this decade.
